Wine is considered vintage if all or most of the grapes used to produce it were grown and harvested in the same year. This specific bottle is a vintage 2017. I cannot tell you how the weather conditions in 2017 affected the grapes and overall taste of the wine but what I can say is that the bottle is a safe pick. It’s great quality, elegant and reasonably priced. It’s not exactly amazing, not for special occasions, but it is nevertheless enjoyable.
It’s tannin structure makes it perfect for entry level red wine drinkers. KWV and Nederburg are the reason why I fell in love with Merlot so I would recommend it to anyone looking to try out a “not so dry” red.
