Protea Dry Rose´ 2018

I do not like sweet alcohol hence I am not a fan of Rose´. However, since I’ve decided to try out different wines instead of always opting for a merlot, I thought why not try a dry Rose´. To be honest though, that decision was influenced by the bottle and by how pretty the wine looked.

Produced by Anthonij Rupert Wines, this light, crisp and acidic pink wine is 54% Mouvedre, 26% Cinsault, 8% Sangiovese, 7% Grenache and 5% Shiraz. It has fresh lime/citrusy aromas and a super light strawberry palate.

I think the acidity is just a little too overwhelming and it almost conceals its fruity taste but besides that, I love it. It tastes more like white wine and I will most definitely buy it again (these Protea wine bottles are a must have). So I think it is fair to say that I kinda drink Rose´now, but it has to be a dry Rose´.
